Sing In Chinese Preschool Receives WASC Accreditation

July 2, 2026

Sing In Chinese Preschool is proud to announce that it has been granted accreditation status by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). This recognition follows a comprehensive school report and an initial visit by fellow educators, who examined the preschool’s program in relation to student learning and well-being based on WASC criteria.

The Senior Vice President of Education Growth and Partnerships who visited Sing In Chinese shared that she was very impressed by the students’ level of English when she saw children reading CVC words at 4 and a half years old, as well as their math skills, which she noted were at a first-grade standard. She was also pleased to see the children’s focus and engagement during rug-time lessons.

In addition, she appreciated the ethnic diversity of our student body and noted that the school was not limited to children of Chinese ethnicity. She was especially happy to see an early childhood program that is not rigid, but instead creates a joyful environment where children are happy, engaged, and having fun while learning.

The visiting committee highlighted schoolwide strengths such as the preschool’s bilingual English-Mandarin immersion program, its emphasis on cultural fluency, and its commitment to hands-on learning through arts, play, and STEM exploration. Areas for growth were also identified, ensuring a clear roadmap for continuous improvement.

“Our accreditation reflects the dedication of our teachers, families, and community to providing high-quality bilingual education in a nurturing environment,” said Lynn Tien, the founder of Sing In Chinese. “We are excited to continue building a program that prepares children to thrive in diverse classrooms and global communities.”

The visiting committee chair noted, “The committee was particularly impressed with the school’s integration of language learning into daily play and creative activities. This approach not only builds communication skills but also fosters confidence and adaptability in young learners.”

WASC accreditation validates the integrity of a school’s program and assures families that its goals are appropriate and being accomplished through a viable educational model. It is a certification to the public that Sing In Chinese Preschool is a trustworthy institution committed to continuous improvement and high-quality learning for all students.
